Is Effect International affiliated with any religious or government organization?
Effect International is a Non-Government Organization (NGO) and is not affiliated with any denomination.
Why should I support a new organization like Effect International, when other organizations (ie: American Heart Association) have been established for many years?
We certainly support large and established organizations; they do wonderful work around the world. While they are able to organize mass volunteers and fund large amounts of money, only a small amount of your money actually goes to the people in need. Executive Directors and large staff drain funding for actual projects. Effect International has no paid staff and we promise that we will use no more than 18% of our total donations to fund our operational costs (airfare, marketing, office space, etc).
Working in developing countries like India and Nepal keep project cost extremely low. For example, a school bench costs $20 USD; a child's school uniform costs $20 USD. We can build an entire school for under $50,000 USD. With our cost efficiency, small and large donations are used to their maximum ability.
How is Effect International Funded?
Most of our funding comes from donors like yourself. People who have a few extra dollars every month to change another person's life. We have also generated a large portion of our funds through our scarf sales; in 2011, 20% of our funding came from those sales.
What are Effect International's immediate plans for the future?
In Spring of 2013, Effect International will finish construction of two new school buildings in India and will offer education to over 250 students.
